As one who has ancestors from every German speaking ancestors outside of present day Germany I see the need for umbrella organizations like CompGen, FEEFHS and GenWiki.I don't know how we can get better associated with these organizations as an English speaking group. I speak German and Norwegian from years of study in Norway and I help friends who don't speak the languages of their ancestors but need to use the records in the original ancestral homelands.
I find it impossible to keep up with all the genealogy lists from my ancestral areas. I'm a paying member of several european associations and have had to drop others because of cost/benefit considerations even though I need their resources at times.
