Hello Listers
My ggg grandparents Frederick Julius and Maria Catherina (Fechel) WINTER
together with their 5 children arrived on the "Pribislaw" in Port Phillip
on 2 February 1850. Frederick's MI states that he was born on 10 May 1810
in Habuck, Mecklenberg, but I have had no luck in locating Habuck. I have
found a reference in his naturalisation papers to Admanzhagen, Mecklenberg.
Could some kind person help me as to where I could locate any birth,
marriage, emigration records, please?
I should add that I cannot read German, sorry.
With thanks in anticipation
Valma
Dear Valma
Perhaps Habuck is Hagebok, north-east of Wismar.
Hagebok is in the parish of Neuburg-I have this film on loan at the moment,
so I will check for a baptism for you next week.
Don't let the fact that you can't speak German bother you. You can pick up
the essential words for looking at parish records with a little help.
Also there are some wonderful members on this list who will translate the
trickier bits.
You are very lucky to have an ancestor from Mecklenburg-the records are
wonderful, and the LDS church has filmed most of them, I think.
Good luck.

Hi,
a complete list of locations in Mecklenburg are found at our homepage.
Infact, there is resp. was no Habuck, but a Hagebök (Hageboek), which
seems close and is located north-east of Wismar. Hagebök belonges
to the parish of Neuburg.
I checked the index of the 1819 census. There was a Winter in Neuburg,
i.e. in the same parish. So it could be worth the check the birth records
of thia parish at any Mormon's family history center.
Sincerely,
