Werner, Bayer, Bruetting, Franke, Schultz

My name is Arthur Miller. My maternal grandmother was Anna Bruetting.
She married George Schultz, was widowed, and then married William
Franke. Her father was George Bruetting, who served in the Union army
during the American Civil War. His wife was Elizabeth Bayer, whose
parents were Katherine Werner and Laurence Bayer. Laurence Bayer was a
musician. In searching for Bruetting, I found that there were a large
number in Frankonia and think that perhaps everybody was from the same
area.
Katherine Werner and Laurence Bayer lived in Baltimore from about 1840.
I know that after about 1850, all of these families lived in the Fells
Point area of Baltimore.
I am fairly certain that Laurence Bayer and Katherine Werner were
Catholic and that George Bruetting was Lutheran, but that he converted
to Catholicism.
If anyone can help me to find out where in Germany my ancestors came
from and when they arrived in the US, I, and the rest of my family,
would be most grateful.
Arthur Miller

Dear Arthur Miller

The family names Bayer and Werner are very common
in the villages named Poxdorf and Effeltrich,
in the South-East of the town Forchheim in Upper-
frankonia. This two family names are very common in
this area in the 18. and 19. Century.
The family name Bruetting is very often settled in
the area between Forchheim and Bayreuth in Upper-
frankonia.

Sincerly Yours,
Hermann (Eger)
