Ungereimtheiten in Kirchenbchern

Hi Listers.

I think the previous posters suit me.

I have Sahs/Sass in my family. Not Brahs/Brass... but maybe close.

Here is my therory.

My grandfather Sahs.

His brother Sass.

They argured over the spelling so my mom says. (my opinion is that they were both right.)

The captitol Letter "S" in old script and records often looks like capitol American B also.*****

The hs/ss/"" (called esset I think) = double s/double sound/long sound 's'.

I recall viewing old family letters when sometimes Sahs looked like Sajs or Bahs.

Regards,

Barbie from St. Louis.

P.S. ******

Who here has looked at records that were difficult to decifer? even with a magnifying glass?

I know I have.
