Try Again

Hallo List

I am going to try one more time.
I am looking for anyone who moght be related to the Schmidts from Gumbinen area.It was in East
Prussia.I have traced them to 1800s.I can not find them any later yet.
They may have come from some where else to Gumbinen.

Thank You
  David P. Manthei

Dear David Manthei,

I don't think that people do not want to answer .... but they can't !

The search for "Schmidt in Gumbinnen" would be the equivalent for
the search "Jones in California" ... or "one needle in a haystack ....of needles !."...

Schmidt is one of the most common German names (also Schmitt, Schmid, Schmied etc.) and Gumbinnen (15877,49 qkm)
made up about 43 % of the whole province of Eastern Prussia (36987,01 qkm).

A constellation like that you call (ironically) "ein genealogischer Kracher !"
"Kracher" (= sensation, top act, non-plus-ultra etc...)

Cheers
