Tools page looks fine to me; simple, uncomplicated, loads fast. Had forgotten GenTools, will have to load it on my new Win7 computer. From my limited experience, Babelfish isn't even up to the level of a bad joke. Google Translate is about the best i've found so far. I use LEO mostly, as my assistant.
I'm currently translating newspaper articles in old scrapbooks for the Henry County (Ohio) Genealogical Society. The articles were printed in almost the same font as my highschool German texts, so READING them is no problem. Have to read a bunch of English-language obituaries of the late 1800s - early 1900s, to learn the corresponding English phrasing.
You might want to add the FamilySearch search site to your list of free sites. Have found quite a bit through them.
