Schuhmacher is a very common name. There are many variations as well: Schumacher/Schuhmacher/Shoemaker etc. In my family the name was changed during the 1800's from Schuhmacher to Schumacher. Accordning to http://www.schumacher.no/ there are an estimated 500,000 Shoemakers worldwide.
