Timmermann Family

Hi Bobbie,

I would be interested to find out more about your Timmermann research so
far. My g-grandmother was Sabina and someone who looked into the original
church records in Beuren (Eichsfeld, former kingdom of Hanover, I believe)
has told me that her name was Timmermann, although when I received a copy of
the birth certificate of her son (my grandfather) her name was given as
Duemermann. I do know that the spelling in those days was not fixed, but
often subject to the recorder's phonetic understanding.

My Sabina was born (probably) 28 November 1841, although on her death
certificate it stated that she was 66 when she died in 1906, which would
give her year of birth as 1839(ish). She was born in Gunterode and a widow
when she married my g-grandfather Joseph Reinhold, aged 26 in 1867. I do not
know whether she had any siblings, but it is likely.

I looked on the online German telephone directory and there is no entrance
at all in the whole of Germany with the name of Duemermann, but over 2000
entries of Timmermann (and plenty in Hanover, too). So I am inclined to
think that her name may well have been Timmermann, rather than Duemermann
(unless her family name has died out).

I have, in the past, written to all individuals listed in the German online
telephone directory who have a specific surname and live in the village/town
from which my ancestors came. I don't know whether you want to do the same
for your Timmermann in Hanover? If so, check out the website:

Would be lovely to find a connection....

Greetings from England,

I am attempting to find out where the best place is to research William and

Isabel

(Meyer) Timmerman who lived in Hannover according to their daughter's, Anna

M. Timmerman,

obituary in MO, USA. I know a lot about Anna but I am attempting to find

out more than

her birthdate, 2/14/1840, and her emigration info, arrival 23 Jan 1857, New

Orleans, LA.
