I want to know how far Lasin and Swiece (which appear to be quite close to each other) are
from Grudziadz? I am still looking for birth records for 8 of my Pawlitzkis and think
perhaps that Grudiadz. One says she was born in Lessin (now Lasin) and one said he was born
in Schwetz, now Swiecie. I have looked at all the Evangelische records for those two towns
and did not find any of them there.
I need to keep looking in that area and the map I copied today is going to be a big help.

This is just a suggestion -
I was searching in the Evangelical records for my g-g-grandfather, (because
my
grandfather was Lutheran), but I found his birth in the Roman Catholic
records.

Hello Trudy,
Unfortunately I am not familar with this are. And I am not familar with the
polish names of the villages.
To find a polish name you can use :
www.kartenmeister.com ther you'll find the polish name an the global
coordinates of a location.
Some Genalogy Programs - Legacy and some other are able to calculate the
distance.
Good Luck
Michael Herrfert
Thanks. I will try that.

I forgot to mention that I have a road atlas for Poland which we used when we
went to Poland in 1996. I am sure things have not changed much since then. I
have found the places and they are not very far apart, at all.
I feel that I am making some progress.

I have the Catholic records on order at present. Two of them have already come,
and I checked them. So far I have not found them. I am waiting for the 2nd film
to come. It has the correct dates on it. I just keep ordering and reading. I am
sure that I will find them. Thanks to all of you who encourage.

Hello Trudy, My ancestors came from Kreis Rosenberg. There is a website for
the area which may give you some information. The address is

There is a Dr. Pawelitzki on the list, but I don't know how to do anything
since I can not read German. I have read the English version of the Charter and
find it very interesting.

Hello Jeffrey:
It is nice to see a message in English. I know I miss a lot because I can't
read all the German messages.

Trudy, I always scan the german messages and if I see something that I want
to read I use google.com translation to translate them to english. My
grandfather and his siblings were born in Jacobau, which is in Kreis
Rosenberg. They attended a lutheran church which is in Gross Bellschwitz. I
have pictures of that church that I could send to you. I can't do it through
the list though. Jeffrey
I would love to have a picture of the church.
My address is:

Could I do something in return for the picture? I thank you.

If you find a message in german that you want translated you need to copy
the message. Then you go to www.google.com and on the right side of the
screen click on language tools. There will be a space where you can paste
the text and translate several languages. It can only handle about 150 words
at a time.It can also translate a website to english as well. Jeffrey
Thank you very much...

Thanks for sending his information. I will need some time to go through it and
since I don't read German very well, it will take a little longer.
