Wie steht es mit dem Namen Schikowksi (der Name meiner Urururgrossmutter)?

Ist dieser auch Kaschubischer Herkunft?

Names ending in Poland that are common are : ow, owny , icz ski ,cki , but
I haven't

come across one that ends with WKSI in all the books that I have or seen,
unless you made a spelling mistake ?

Sorry, I did make a mistake, it's 'Schikowski', probl. derived from 'Szikowski' as you said.
Do you know anything about the origins of this name, or from what area it is originally?

My gggparents Johann Gottlieb Kretschmann and Charlotte Schikowski lived in Elbing in the 2e half of the 19 century.

I have a family name which I think originally may have been just "PAWLITZ". They were found in Gross Bellschwitz, Kreis
Rosenberg, W. P. At this time the name was written as "PAWLITZKI". I know that zki had a special meaning, which I still
haven't found the reason for. One of the that family, in the U.S. dropped the zke and became just Pawlitz again. Does
any of this make sense to you?
