Ship records FROM America TO Germany

Hi! Joanne,

One person indicated that the United States didn't keep outbound records of
people leaving the US. Our only hope would be if Germany kept inbound
passenger lists like the US did. That's what I was hoping to find...a web site or
archive in Germany that had inbound passengers, not ones leaving the country.

I, too, have the same problem. The sister (and presumably husband) of my great great great grandfather returned to Germany sometime between 1840 and 1850. Their names were Francis Joseph Hugo and Dorothea (nee Steingrandt) Linz.

Familysearch.org's search capabilities are so limited that there are literally 1000s of records to sort through, and even then, there's a good chance that family won't appear in their database at all.
