Is this the same Ludwig Carl August Schmacker (,Louis"), * Oldenburg
13.4.1856, !wuchs bei einer Familie Alting auf, wohnte 1867 in Bremen bei
Onkel Eduard Schmacker,später ausgewandern nach Amerika. s/o O IX. a Paul
Friedrich August Schmacker?

I have some research for a Louis Schmacker married a Lilly Yackly and two of
their children. One of which celebrated 101 years of age as a sister in the
Society of the Precious Blood. And another connected to a family in St
Henry, Mercer County, Ohio. This family descends from the Ems river
Schmacker familys. Actually have lots of research on the family Schmacker
(s) , and other spellings.
Am trying to connect to a Maria Angelica Schmackers born Sept 12 - 1828,
Hanover, Germany. Her obituary mentions that her name was actually "Ongler",
She had a father Gerhard Heinrich and a mother called Gesina. A brother of
same name as her father and a sister name of Elisabeth.
I am aware that Ongler means finger in French. But it might have been Engler
except that a daughter and grandaughter were given the same name: Ongler.
This Maria (Mary) married a George B Bauer. She came to Amerika via
Bremerhaven 8:00a.m. Sunday October 30, 1853 on the ship New England as
passenger #17. 8 weeks later arrived at Slaughter House Point NewOrleans,
Louisana, Amerika.
If anymember of this or the extended family is interested in this and the
extensive research several of us descendants of several Schmacker(s) have
aculmulated, it is available.
Yours Ralph A Bauer
