Saxony

If Saxony is a State, of sorts, can anyone on this list send me names of the towns in this State? ladybug@arends-sons.com

Hi,

Leipzig and Dresden are the largest cities in the state Sachsen = Saxony
(they habe been also the two largest cities of former East Germany except of
East Berlin), Halle and Magdeburg are the largest cities of the state
Sachsen-Anhalt = Saxony-Anhalt.

On my homepage is a map showing the borders of the modern states Saxony and
Saxony-Anhalt (together with Thuringia) and the 19th century provinces,
kingdoms and dutchies of that area: www.tr62.de >> Resources >> Maps >>
"Saxony 19th century" (or directly www.tr62.de\2\s1.html ).

Hi Lister,

Question: Why don't you use your real name, posting a mail without any
welcome and greeting phrase?

Hello volunteer (ladybug),

sorry, but the question you wrote sounds more like the
search for a needle in the haystack.

Of course, geography is one thing, but research another.
Could you understand the question: if Illinois is a State
of some sort, and Gibson City lies in IL, what are all
the other cities, towns, counties, townships et al are
named?

I do not want this reply to sound iniquitous, just trying
to drive you in the right direction.

Best regards,

Greetings from Texas, Thomas. I logged on to your website since I have
many roots in Sachen-Anhalt and Thuringia. Your explantions of the
divisions and history of Germany is very good. I am able to follow it
much better than most things I have read. I looked at your surnames,
hoping we might share a common interest in a particular family name but
did not find any. My husband and I spent one night in Halle [in 1986
when that area was still East Germany]. Quite an experience that I would
not trade for anything. The day the wall came down I watched TV all day
and cried. Patsy Hand
