Sawatzki : "saw, sew, zeuve" = fisher boat with perforated container to
preserve fishes; "sowis" = sea, lake

Hello, I would like to find information concerning these two surnames -
Schalla and Sawatzki (Sowatzke or Sowatzki). The information I have is

that

my grandfather, August Schalla, born August 1, 1860, Geyerswalde,

Osterode,

East Prussia. My grandmother, Charlotte Sawatzki, born August 11, 1868,
Gross Potzdorf, East Prussia. I understand that my grandfather had a
brother, Johann Ludwig, born Oct. 23, 1857, that stayed in East Prussia.
