Can someone explain for me ....what is the difference between Sachsen and
Sachsen-Anhalt.?
Hello,
Sachsen-Anhalt is a German Bundesland formed after German reunifiaction in
1990. It comprises roughly the areas of the former Duchy of Anhalt and the
former -Prussian Province- of Saxony.
The present Bundesland Sachsen (Saxony) is roughly equivalent to the
territory of the former
-Kingdom- of Saxony.
The capital of Sachsen-Anhalt is Magdeburg, other cities include
Halberstadt, Halle and Dessau.
The capital of Sachsen is Dresden, other citie include Chemnitz, Zwickau,
Leipzig & Plauen.
