To find information on all the lists hosted by Rootsweb, go to
www.rootsweb.com
At the top of the page are some tabs. Click on Mailing Lists

The next page will give letters of surnames, and many locations. The St.
Louis Germans list is under "Germany"

After you have selected which list you are interested in, you can then
either browse or search the archived messages. You can see if the list
is busy enough to have someone who can probably answer your questions,
you can search the messages for your surname or your location, etc.

I forgot to add when the e mail addy comes up ...put in the body of the e
mail.... subscribe ...only! Of course , you know this!
