Very good visible the name is absolutely proper written but i have still
some doubts, cause i found another Hattorff family in the 1900 census (this time
with two ff) who is indeed a Hittorff family from Cologne/Bonn area, and i
found it out cause i was searching the family in 4 other census years.
So my idea was to search Georg Hattorf in the 1880 census after the datas in
the 1900 image he should be married in 1874 and have a wife and two kids
before 1880. So it should be easy to find them.
Theoretically!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is no George no Jennie no son George and
August in the 1880 census that fit to that 1900 image. Has anyone an idee how to
go on.
I know that there was a George Edward Hattorf living in New York in 1892
Geo E. Hattorf bisque, 71 w 3rd, home 242 7th
Here he is called Geo E. thats George Edward but i have no proof that Geo E.
is George in the 1900 census at ancestry.com so i need him ONE MORE time in
1880 should be easy.
And there is a little difference of 3 years with the birthyear but ok i know
that ancestry.com is not the holy bible and people have been not always home
when the enumerator came and so the neighbour might given the information.
I must find them in 1880 to have the proof. Any suggestion.
How old should your George Hattorf be in 1900 or 1910? Would he still be living in 1920? I'll try search H.Q. online census.
I think can do a given name & locality search....but would need to narrow down the George's a bit, age would help.
Hello,
Is this your Hattorf? Of course, it doesn't tell you birthplace:

I can give you reasons for someone not showing up on a census, but it wouldn't help, except in unusual cases.
1. If the individual was out of the country during June.
2. If the individual was in the process of moving and
was not recorded at either location.
3. There was an extreme but simple mispelling, such as
Battorf, Mattorf, Haddorf, etc.
I have a distant relative who moved across the county in one census, happened to be at both locations when the census was taken and is recorded at both addresses.
I did check Castle Garden in case he went out of the country and returned, but I found nothing.
