Re: Verlag Degener

Has anyone recently ordered anything directly from Verlag Degener via their
website? I would like to know about good/bad experiences anyone may have
had, since I would like to place an order with them but have never ordered
through them before.

Thank you for your opinions!

Julie

And coincidentally I can help you out on whether or not to order from Verlag
Degener. I have ordered over $2000 worth of Schubert's volumes over the past
2+ years. I just found out they finally have their own website yesterday,
because in the past I have ordered through another through another
publishing house that sells Verlag Degener's materials, called SVK. I used
them because I can pay with Mastercard and it is much easier and cheaper
than having to buy international money orders. They charge your card in DM
and of course that is converted to US Dollars.

The companies are both good/sound, and in one case where I found a volume
missing out of a Kassette, they corrected the error and sent me the missing
piece no problem.

To write to SVK, their email address is:

svk@svk.de

I believe they have a website too, but not sure.

My contact with Verlag Degener is Sigrid Strauss-Morawitzky and her email
address is:

morawitzky@t-online.de

I think that Degener's main email address is:

verlag-degener@vr-web.de

Of course it takes some time to get the volumes that you order, as shipping
is regular post and I think it is a month or so minimum before you get them,
but if memory serves they did not bill my mastercard immediately either, and
one time I think I was billed after I received the goods.

Hope all of this helps. I also can send you scanned copies of the
Mecklenburg volumes that are available for order as I have their catalog
(they send a new one to me every year) which has the costs and the order
numbers for each volume or set. Just let me know if you need that too.

Thanks again for the LaPorte data. One of the Kadow families I found on the
Hamburg list was from Siedenbollentin, which is just across the way from
Friedland Meck/Strelitz area and family lore has this and the Langemann
family as being from Mecklenburg at some point.
