Hi Bernadette: Sprichst du Englisch? Hoffentlich, weil mein deutsch nicht so gut ist. Aber ich kann ein bischen die alte Schrift lesen. When I saw Kampsheide I became very interested. Mein Grossvater ist Campsheide geboren und ich habe vielmal (vor vielen Jahre) dort Verwandten besucht. Is it possible that your Ahlers are related to the Campsheide family? Perhaps we are Verwandten!!! Jane (in Florida, US)

That's soooo interesting!
I have acutally no information about the roots of my
Ahlers' guys from the document yet. I am still working
on that.
But..... this could be our connection with the US:
The first son of Johann Dietrich Friedrich Ahlers
(Johann -John- Friedrich Ahlers *Dec 1st,
1901)emmigrated (Oktober 25th, 1927) on the ship
'Ltzow' from Bremen to New York and lived with a
cousin in Jersey City NJ (i assumed).
I searched all the www.ancestry.com files and i think
i found him in NJ Census in 1930 because we expected
him to stay in New York ... but i found no information
about his further life at all and this was wa close
match to his age.

All i got was death records of the children of the
"Havemeyer" Family (his cousin, host and employer). I
found one in Arizona, but i am not completely sure if
this is the same person and i didn't research it any
more because they are dead by now... so no chance to
ask them anyway if their parents ever spoke about a
german cousin living with them in 1930.
Well, nothing is prooved yet so i am very interested
in what you are having for me!!! Maybe this is a
jackpot!
What i didn't get yet... is Campsheide the familyname
of your Granfather or was he born in this village?
I AM SOOO CURIOUS!!!!
