The response to my plea for help with translating church records has been tremendous. It is so gratifying to know there
are people that take the time to help others, and I thank each and ever one of you.
The consensus seems to be that the father, Johan Martin Stich and Martin Stich, are the same person, with two different
wives, and I will be concentrating on the marriage and death records to get this resolved.
In 20 years of researching church records in Germany this is the first Catholic records I've dealt with. So, the
responses have been great, particularly in the describing some of the terms used that have been baffling me. The first
time I've had a record name the midwife, and the term Ried has cost me hours of researching for a town name. For those
who have an interest, I am told the term "Ried." is defined as "Ried. = part of the place."
What a great bunch of people we have in this world - fred
