I am sorry, I can't help you with the name Schroeder, it is like looking for a
straw in a haystack. However, I do have a question others on the list may be
able to answer. This concerns the oe in your name. I understand that when many
Germans came to the U. S. the umlaut was dropped and the ö became oe. In other
words your name was probably spelled Schröder. Does anyone know if this is
true. I noticed that in some in some cases my GF's name was spelled Boesche
instead of Bösche, however, when my GF had any say, it was spelled Bosche. He
never added the e, even if the "Americans" couldn't make an umlaut.
