RE: HANNOVER Kingdom WAS PART OF PRUSSIA?

Dear Rena,

Thank you for the good luck wish. I need it. Was my great-grandmother who wrote these things on census about her parents and by church records I found her parents names and their parents names.

I luckily obtained a copy of her grandmothers death certificate. Unfortunately it said she was born in Europe 28 Sept. 1836. :frowning:

Michelina Szymura

(just in case someone recognize that name!

Warmest Regards,
Barbie

The German phone directory shows about 70 Szymura addresses, mainly in Westphalia.
Maybe they came over from Poland or east Prussia.

Hi Barbie (or Michelina Szymura?)

I could find a Polish business phone book (Yellow Pages) and that pops
up 40 Szymura.

Pls. note, lots of families named Szymura, coming in the
1945-1950 ies to Western Germany now the are named
SCHYMURA. Don't ask me why, but I know living families in my
area, theire parents changed their names in this way.

Are you interested in "living" Schymuras, coming from Poland
(Former "Schlesien")??

That change in name is like most times because of pronunciation, that sz
comes like sch.
