I haven't managed to go further back than the German church in England which
records Wilhelm Ehlers was a Schumacher. As yet we do not know the
connection, but so too was Johan Ludwig Ehlers who died 1899 im Hull,
England. It seems reasonable to think the father passed on his trade.
