Looking for any information on my great-grandmother, Charlotte (Muckley) Van
Norden who was born in Verden, 15 July 1868 and immigrated to New York in
1883. She married a Charles Pithie (Pitchie) and had 3 children while living in
the Bronx. After becoming a widow in 1905, Charlotte married a man by the name
of Alonzo Simmons. They moved to Long Beach, CA to be close to her children and
had another son by Mr. Simmons. She died on 16 Oct. 1934 in Long Beach, CA.
Where would I go to find birth or christening records from Verden? Since it
was part of Prussia in 1868 I'm assuming that there would be records located in
Hannover.
Any information would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Carol Brisson
