Question

BODY { font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px; }
I am still searching for my ggrandfather, Julius Wilhelm Burgdorf. I
frequently search the Hildesheim site of Family Search and often come
across words and phrases I do not understand like Asel, Barsum,
Sorsum. What do these mean or refer to? My main objective is to find
film that might lead me to church info such as births, confirmation,
marriage or civil information such as census.

  Thank, Max

Those are place names.

Hi Max:

Yes you can send your attachment to me direct.
For Barsum, old script 's' can look like an 'r', at least the way I
write it in script. Thus it could be Bassum, a town about 25k south
     of Bremen.
Sorsum is a town in the area of Hildesheim. It was apparently
founded in 1125 and as of today has about 3000 residents.
Also there is a town Harsum just north of Hildesheim. Hey!! we
have Hildesheim refferenced twice. I a placing my bet on the three
being towns or districts/etc in the Hildesheim area. Found it!!
Ansel is just south of Harsum. All three are in the Hildesheim
     area.

     They all towns.
