I requested birth informaton from Bergedorf for my grandfater. They want me to send copies of my fathers birth certificate. They want copies of my mom and dads marriage. They want copies of my birth certificate.
I ask myself. Welll........... Thats a lot of information to ask for.....and I'm a little scared to provide such information.
Rather scarey to me.
What reason for that.
Why?
The only thing I asked for was birth certificate for Pop (gramp).
Birth information -- unlike marriages and deaths -- is not considered public information. And with all the "identity theft" going on now, you should be very grateful --- but also very careful. Best would be to go in person and hold onto your certificates. But it is for YOUR protection and that of other living relatives that they ask!
