? Prausnitz

Hi Guys,

Can someone please assist me with the following problem-?

I have many families born and or married in Prausnitz, Boehmen Koenigreich,
Austria in the early 1600’s and 1700’s and yet on this site I have seen
currently the town/s of Prausnitz mentioned in numerous e-mails.

I have since checked up with http://www.kartenmeister.com/ and have since
located two towns called Prausnitz in Schlesien.

Is there any chance that these towns are one of the same as I have mentioned
above, considering the time frame in regards to wars, country boundaries,
and maybe is now currently Schlesien etc etc.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Graeme Rummler.

Hello Graeme,
if your records say "Boehmen Koenigreich" you should better join the Sudeten-BMS-Liste. In Bohemia, there indeed was resp. is a place called Deutsch Prausnitz (Nĕmecká Brusnice, now Brusnice), Bezirk Trautenau, with 1300 inhabitants in 1836 and just 833 in 1939.

You can find a German report on the most frequent names and the church and parish history of Deutsch Prausnitz at http://home.arcor.de/vp-schulz/riesen/D-Prausnitz.htm .
