you will find various archives involved in the Kingdom of Hannover.
A general search given the name Wedemeyer returns 188 hits in the
archiv. My suggestion would be to gather all your facts and write to
the archiv director of the Osnabrück archive and let them do the
research for you. I'm saying that because without as knowledge of
German navigating the resources can be tough.
Here are just some of the wedemeyer entries:
.1849 . .1851
Dep. 118 Nr. 991 Hauptstaatsarchiv Hannover Gevetter Wedemeyer,
Kläger, wider Bürgermeister und Rat der Stadt Eldagsen, Beklagte,
wegen Pfändung mehrerer Schweine . .1798 . .1800
Hann. 86 Hameln Acc. 143/90 Nr. 34/0245 fehlt Hauptstaatsarchiv

On second thought, they do have an Enflish version:

That shopuld get you going.

Philip,
Yes, that is what I am asking. Thank you for helping to clarify my
question. In my search of the _www.familysearch.org_
records for Hannover, I haven't found a likely source for emigration
records
between 1860 and 1880 (maybe because my German is so rusty....)

German records about this permission process, and how does one one

Heimatbrief und Edictalladung
where Ursula said.....

..... which left 5 Dec 1854 from Hamburg, Germany, and arrived on 23
May 1855 in Sydney NSW Australia. Small problem... the 'Peru'
shipping records do not list g-grandfather!This prompts me to look for records in German bureaucracy which
relate to the "Edictalladung"! Can someone please advise?
