Parishes?

Hello listers:

I just got back from the local Family History Center after looking thru the
Births/Baptisms for Graudenz for the 1875-1881 timeframe.

Graudenz was obviously the largest town in the surrounding area. Would
Graudenz be considered a diocese? Was the surrounding area broken up into
smaller parishes?

Hello Dennis,
Graudenz was a parish itself, it belonged to the Dizese Culm. It was very
common that some villages around Graudenz belonged to this parish. If you
are interesred in details, please let me know. I will copy some information

Graudenz was part of the Culm diocese.

Hello Kurt,
Saw your dialogue with Dennis and thought I'd ask you a question.
In 1994 I was in Alt Christburg, Mohrungen Kreis, visiting the church
there. I've been looking for records for that church but until now I've
been unable to find them. Have you found a hint of Alt Christburg in the
Graudenz records or any of the other records that you've viewed? My BRAUN
family lived in Alt Christburg. I have looked at the available Christburg
church records thinking they may have been combined with theirs.
Other family name for the the Alt Christburg area is Schilling.

I would not think that records for villages around Alt Christburg
would be in the Graudenz records.
