Oldenburg-L Digest, Vol 108, Issue 5

Danke, Gerd.

At this point I have no way of knowing if the person you found is my
relative. After years of trying, I haven't been able to find any other
details about her, but maybe someday I will stumble on a small fact that
gives me the big lead. It's too bad that more records in Oldenburg were
not filmed by the LDS people. I will keep at it.

Thank you very much for your effort and time.
Sincerely,
Jim Anslinger

Hi James,

On my mothers side, a Richter married a Brandt.
This was in Holland. But the families originated in Neuenkirchen in Oldenburg.
After they moved to Holland some of the family used the name Helena. Also the name Johan appears.
I know this is a common name. Anyway maybe looking in Neuenkirchen might be an idea.
Of the 13 Brandts I have in my tree there are no Helena's.
I know that some of my Richter ancestors also moved to America.
Good luck with your search.

Cheers Rikus Kaijer.

Hello - I do have a Mary Brandt in my genealogy - she was the mother of my Aunt Meg: I do not have much information on her except from a Certificate of Death. She was from Germany and was married to Henry Dirks. The birth place of my Aunt was in Montgomery Co, Illinois. I did not go into the Dirks or the Brandt line while I was researching my Oltmanns' line. Maybe, or maybe not, this is helpful.
