Learning that you are researching Ahlers. Could you tell me where your Ahlers were from ? I know there were quite a few different Ahlers families in the Oldenburg area. Mine are/were from Ohmstede, Oldenburg, Bornhorst. Any connection ?
The names 'Juergens' and 'Balsters' were/are common around here. Do you have anything more about your folks ? 'Oldenburg' may just mean the old Grand Duchy of Oldenburg which comprised quite a few towns.
