I really appreciate this posting about the settlement in Iowa County. My Lösekann ancestors were from Huntebruck and Brockshus were from Hurrel. They also settled in Iowa County. Very interesting reading. Thank you!

There is some information about Neuenhuntorf in English - A memoir written
before 1914 by Henry MAAS (son of Brand MAAS) tells about the move from
Neuenhuntorf to Iowa County, Iowa, U.S.A. and getting started in a new
country. In 1854 the families of Herman MAAS, Brand MAAS, Ahrend LANGE,
Herman LANGE, John H. MERHRENS, Gerd MUNDERLOH, and Gerd MONNICH, moved to
Iowa County. Around 1860 more families came: OTTO, SANDERSFELD, MÖNNICH,
PETERSHAGEN, WICHMANN, HEILZHUSEN, RODICK and others. He also
mentions: Fredrich PUNDT from Bordewisch, J. LANGE and Becka WICHMANN from
Altenhuntorf, and John GRUMMER who later moved to Luzerne, Benton County,
Iowa. He said J. H. WENKE and wife and G. MONNICH and wife are buried in
Hooper, Dodge County, Nebraska. The memoir is online
