Re: request for emigration in Oldenburg
I dont know since when those requests were necessary. The state archive
Oldenburg has a file which starts around 1869. Even after 1869 not everybody
really made that request. Many just went without permission.
Those records usually mention:
-The name, birth - date and birth place of the person wanting to emigrate.
-The name of the parents
-sometimes the reasons for emigration are explained
-sometimes the destination is mentioned (relatives who are already somewhere
in the US)
