Hello - my name is Doug Hildebrand, I am trying to determine the origin of my grandparents in Germany. I have very little confirmed information to guide me, so I hope someone can help me.
My grandfather was Franz Hildebrandt, born March 27, 1853. He married a Maria (Marie) Zimmermann, born June 24, 1854. They emigrated to Canada in 1887 and settled in Arnprior, Ontario. I have a copy of an old letter written in 1919 by my grandmother's brother, Franz Zimmermann. It was written from Speldorf, Mulheim u d Rhur. I have determined that he lived in that location from 1919 to 1933. This is my only lead, if my grandparents originated from this same area.
