Hello to all Listers,
Please let me introduce myself, I am new to all this.
My name is Ian Tromp from Adelaide,South Australia and I have started to look into my Forefathers further than what is known by our family (mainly my mother).I do know my direct line of descendants but do not know of siblings (of these) and other relations/connections,this is what I would like to find out further? This is my mothers line of descendants which all have come from kries Wehlau,that is why I have decided to post this on your mailinglist.In the hope that someone may know of these people or connections to them or it may help others in their search to connect their descendants.
The other line, of my mothers mother are all out of Marienburg and I will tackel that another day.
My father Werner Tromp from Harburg also has his grossvater Karl Franz Tromp,geb 1881 Fishhausen.
I believe that I will spending a lot of time in Ostpreussen.

I noticed the name Schikowski in your ancestorlist. This name also occurs in my familytree.
My ggg-grandfather Johann Gottlieb Kretschmann (b. 1823, Elbing) was married to Charlotte Schikowski (b. 1824, Eckersdorff).

Furthermore Johanns older brother Michael (b. 1813, Elbing) was also married to a Schikowski, namely Anna maria (b. 1814, Jäskendorff).

Although not sure, I presume that these 2 women are closely related (sisters or cousins).
Eckersdorff and Jäskendorff lie in eachothers vicinity, not far from (southwest of) Elbing (currenlty Elblag, Poland).

I recall from the wedding certificate of Charlotte Schikowski that her father was a Christophe or Christian Schikowski.

These are the data concerning this name I have up till now.
Would be nice to know whether and how our families are related.

Thank you for replying.
The name Schikowski is a name that does not seem to appear very often,
so there could be a connection somewhere along the line.

gg-grandmother,Rosine Wendeline Mathilda Schikowski,geb 24-11-1841 in Pomedien which is 8 km from Tapiau,gest.12-5-1910 in Taplaken which is 7 km from Wehlau she married Karl Eduard Neumann 20-4-1863 in Kr,Wehlau.
Her father Karl Schickowski (I have no other details) married Sophie Delitz,(widow of Obernest)geb ? in Taplaken.gest 1889 Petersdorf which is 4 km from Wehlau.

It seems our people all came from the surrounding districts and did not venture very far but who knows about Karl?
He may have come from outside the neighbourhood.

On my grandfathers notes he has written for Karl "Kollmer(Bauer nach Kulmischen Recht)" I know what a bauer is,the rest I am lost on.
