Need help with niederdeutsch translation, Plate in Hasbergen

I was reading an interesting article on the Plates of Hemmelskamp and came across a few words I cannot understand.

Christian Hinrich Plate was Maire of Hasbergen during the French period and was responsible to recruit soldiers for Napoleon's march on Russia. He is said to have advised those to be drafted:

“Gaht dr man erst is hen, un seht naher to, dat jt dr waller von afkaamt!”

Could someone knowing the dialect help me with that?

I am researching a Plate family (Harm Plate, m.1733 Gesche Backhaus) in Gemeinde Hasbergen, possibly in Varrelgraben or Iprump. If anyone has knowledge of this area and can help me locate sources, or knows of the family, I would much appreciate help.

Hugo,

He advised them to go (to the place of induction) and
then see to it that they get away from it.

Hallo Herr Schneider,

In other words something like:

Try going there first and then take a look later on how you can get out
of it.

I'd rather translate "afkaamt" with "fortkommen" / "get away"

In other words something like:

Try going there first and then take a look later on how you can get out of it.

Almost: "seht zu (dass)" ist better translated with "make sure (that)"
Go there first and later make sure that you get out of it

Hallo Hugo,

an answer from Bob from the Nederlands......

Ich kann nur ein Wort nicht vollig erklären, sonst bedeutet es meiner
Meinung nach so etwas wie:

“Gaht dr man erst is hen, un seht naher to, dat jt dr waller von afkaamt!”

"You had better first go there, and have a closer look to see that you may
end it succesfully / to see that you can safely get away with it (from it)"
