Dear Members,
I am having a friendly and somewhat fun dispute with some of my Andree
family cousins who have been told i the past that our family name of
Andree once had the prefix of Von but I doubt this was ever the case.
Hello MaryJane,
I think you are right. In the telephone directory of Germany there are today about 1.000 ANDREE, but none with a VON.
Normally the VON means the nobility, but that's not without exception. The names with a VON (English: FROM, french: DE) are mostly deriving from a place.
ANDREE derived from the first name ANDREAS.
Regards
Wilfried (Petersen)
