Hello - I'm new to this list and am posting this message on multiple lists. One of my ancestors enlisted in the military on 10 June 1797 - he was a surgeon and his name was Gottlob Kuntze/Kuntz, born between 1772 and 1775, place unknown. One record from the early 1800s, when he was in Glückstadt, Schleswig-Holstein, says he was from Sachsen. He was in Gluckstadt from about 1803 (he appears in a census) to some time after 1820 (his wife dies then). He was in the Sjællandske Livregiment (4. Regiment), 17. Bataljon - this was the Queen's Regiment. His marriage in 1809 says he was from Itzehoe, but no record of his birth exists there.
Does anyone have any suggestions on locating his place of birth? I have nothing and have only found him on a Danish census which does not list his place of birth.
Does anyone have any suggestions on locating his record of enlistment? (If it even exits.)
I appreciate any help or suggestions - I do not speak German, but I have someone who can translate for me.

Eine Aufzeichnung aus Gl�ckstadt in Schleswig-Holstein aus dem fr�hen 19. Jahrhundert gibt an, dass er aus Sachsen stamme. Er hielt sich in Gl�ckstadt von 1802 bis ca. 1820 auf. Um 1820 starb seine Ehefrau welche er 1809 heiratete. Dabei gab gab er an aus Itzehoe zu stammen.
Wer k�nnte eine Idee haben woher er stammen k�nnte? In D�nischen Unterlagen ist keine Angabe dar�ber enthalten.
