Meier Family Genealogy

Barbara,
Hi In April I posted about my family - I believe I may have additional
information.
See posting 4-15-06 I came across a ship manifest that said Peine, Prussia
for a man named Frederick Meier. Correct year of crossing 1886. I did find
his family coming in 1887 on the ship called the California. So so far a lot of
what I have is going in the right direction. Brauschweig, Hannover, and now
Peine. Is there a church there. The family was lutheran. It was her possible
second marriage. Possible first name Leontine, as the manifest has her listed
as Tina, not Lena. But her 1st marriage was to a Miller. First child August
Miller. Born 2-18-18(73 or 74) Thanks Jo Ann

Hi Jo Ann,

There is indeed more than one church in Peine. My map show at least 4.
The LDS has these records:

Kirchenbuch, 1665-1900 Katholische Kirche Peine (KrSt. Peine)
Kirchenbuch, 1803-1874 Katholische Kirche Peine (STKr. Peine)
Kirchenbuch, 1853-1874 Evangelische Kirche Sankt Jakobi Peine (StKr. Peine)

Too bad your folks weren't Catholic - there are more records available
for them! Maybe the years will be close enough. Do you ever use the LDS
records?
