I found another Macke in my husband's family tree. It's Maria Gertrude
Macke, baptized 25 Sep 1777, died 26 Oct 1812 at Ruschen Leibzucht, Hüde. Burial
was from St. Victor's Catholic Church in Damme on 28 Oct 1812.
Her baptism record says, "1777 Septemb. 25 Joan Macke olim Vogelsang
Cath Maria Middelkamp [child] Maria Gertrud [sponsors] M. Gertrud Ma-e
Maria Elis. Vogelsang J. Bernd Macke"
She married (11 Nov 1800) Joan Herman Heinrich Kramer. He was born and
died in Ruschen Leibzucht, Hüde.
She had three (or more) siblings:
(1) "1779 May 13 Joan Vogelsang jetzt Make Cath. Maria Middelkamp
[child] Joan Bernd [sponsors]Joan Bernd Middelkamp Joan ... Macke Anna Maria
Schäper"
(2) "1783 September 28 Joan Vogelsang Cath. Maria Middelkamp [child]
Cath. Maria Elisab. [sponsors] Cath. Vogelsang Elisab. Middelkamp Caspar
Vogelsang "
(3) "1785 Novemb. 27 Joan Macke Cath. Maria Middelkamp [child]
Catharina Maria [sponsors] Cath Maria Vogelsang Gertrud Vogelsang Henrich
Brinkman
As is typical in these records, some of the children are listed with one of
the father's last names and others are listed with the other last name. I
haven't yet been able to discover why these Vogelsangs changed their name to
Macke. It may have been a marriage that predated the marriage of the parents of
these siblings. That marriage record says: "1776 November 10 Joan Gerd
Vogelsang Catharina Maria Middelkamp Vidua Lemkuhle Joan Henrich Middelkamp
Joan Henrich Schäper." Or they could have bought a Macke farm.
