Hi Dolly and Karl,
Many people do not realize there are 2 passenger lists, one is the Departure Ma
nifest
from Hamburg, the other, (the one you have) is the New York Arrival Listing. T
he Arrival
Listing usually does not give the town name, however the Hamburg Departure Mani
fest
will give the town name in Mecklenburg or wherever.
To get the Hamburg Departure Manifest for your ship, Saxonia, arrived 25 Nov 18
67,
you will need to order the microfilm roll for 1867, then look for a departure a
round
18 Nov 1867. You order this through your local Family History Center for less
than
4 dollars.
Using the Direct List (most common) at the Genealogy.net website called Hamburg
Passenger Lists, 1850-1934
[1]Hamburg Passenger Lists 1850-1934
You will find the microfilm order number is:
0472898 for Band 21 for the whole year of 1867.
Then with the town name you can order the microfilms for the parish church that
served
the town and get many more ancestors. The church records in Mecklenburg were mo
stly all
filmed by the Mormons and are the best source for get ancestral info like marri
ages, baptisms,
births, and deaths.
