Looking for descendents of and birth/death records of family of my father:
Johann Bernhard Hergens, born August 12, 1893 in or near Berne Germany. His
father was Hinrich Hergens and his Mother was Sophia Frisius. Johann
(Hans) had three sisters, two of whose names were Mili and Herta,
The story is that Hinrich owned through bred horses. He was also a
collector of antiques. Both Hinrich and Sophia were buried in a church
cemetery in Berne. Sophia died around 1935 and Hinrich died earlier but I
do not know when.
Johann came to the United States in 1912 and arrived in Galveston Texas. In
1928 he married Esther Baker, and they moved to Houston Texas. He died in
Houston Texas in 1985.
I am interested in obtaining church records from Berne but I do not know
name of church though I know it is Protestant.
Can someone help me?
