List Members,
On the marriage record for my g g grandmother, the location for her birth is shown as
TRISOTE, ALTENBURG, EUROPE
The first word Trisote is my interpretation of the handwriting, it is possible that the first letter might be F rather than T making it FRISOTE. It is also possible that the letter L precedes the last T making it TRISOLTE or FRISOLTE.
Can anyone on the list help me determine where this is?
Thank you.
Teresa Tully
Hello Teresa,
Could you give us the name of your gg grandmother?
Secondly, the LDS lists 8 Altenburgs in Germany and more in other
countries. There are also a number of Altenbergs. Are you sure it is
Germany?
Finally, I would suggest that Trisote is a little village and
Altenburg is a larger nearby village where the people went to church (and
thus where the records were kept). Many records are listed like that. I
have a detailed Autoatlas that lists several Altenburgs, but nothing for
Trisote and the like. I will look in detail around each of those Altenburgs
for a village that may be too small to be included in the index, but are on
the map. I can't do it right now, but will try to do so later in the day.
One more thing, I have found that Bavarian script around Wurzburg is
UNBELIEVEABLY difficult to read (for people like me)--unlike any I have
seen for any other German area. Is the listing of the town that you have a
copy of the original record?
Until later,
