I am actually researching my Wesemann family from Landesburgen, Hannover;
Ehrich/Erich family from Gadesbunden, Hannover; Degener family from Rodewald,
Hannover. Also, Dieke from somewhere in Kingdom of Hannover. That is the way my
great great grandfather spelled his name but I am finding the name also
spelled Deeke, Dicke - not having much luck since I do not know the name of the
town.
My interest in Mochle is that is where the wife of my great grandfather's
brother was from. Her name was Josephine Knaap - daughter of Heinrich Knaap and
Gertrude Gerlach and she married Heinrich Knöpfel in NYC. All family records
say she was from Hannover and I believe I have found her in the emigration
records - also says from Hannover. The one church record that I have found -
baptism of a son says she was from Mochle (at least that is what the spelling
looks like to me). Thanks for your help I appreciate it.

I've been looking around but I haven't found anything that would be
any great find. I'm not sure why you want to know where Josephine Knaap was
born if she was the wife of your great-grandfather's brother's wife. Is it
to find the Dieke birthplace?
Knaap is very much a Dutch name. The only Knaaps in the German
phonebook which would have been in the Hannover area is in Uelsen. That is
very near the Netherlands border.
Is the Knaap name from "Mochle" connected to the people from the
Landesburgen or Rodewald towns? Strangely enough, fairly near to both of
those towns there is an indication of "Mühle". Southeast of Landesbergen
(spelled differently from what you have) is Brokeloher Mühle. Mühle is a
mill in German. Why a mill would be named on the map, I don't know. It is
not in the index of towns. Maybe it's a very tiny town. North and a little
east of Rodewald is another dot on the map which says Aldener Mühle. That
is listed as a town in the index of my atlas.
Do those towns have anything at all to do with Josephine Knaap???
I thought maybe Mühle might be what you read as Mochle.
Did you notice on the LDS list that there is a Friedrich Wilhelm Dieke
from Bruchhagen? That is a town straight east of Landesbergen. Maybe your
great-great grandfather came from there??? No Diekes in the phonebook in
Bruchhagen today, but there are Dicke names in Steyerberg which is just
north. Mmmm....

If the record you have refering to "Mochle" originated in the USA the word
"Mühle" would have been translitterated to "Muehle". A sloppily written u
might thenappear to be an "o" and the "e" might easily look like a "c".

I have to make a correction. The town I mentioned with the name of
Dieke, Bruchhagen, is directly west, not east of Landesbergen.
If you wish to look for the Dieke name in Bruchhagen, it appears to me
that the people from there would go to church in Steyerberg. The LDS have
church records for Steyerberg:
