Liegnitz address books

Hallo Misses Appel,

first greetings around the world from Leipzig, the great town in the
middle part of germany!

Please sorry for my not good english. But I will go to help you if I
can.

The address book of Liegnitz 1898 don't know an Pächt Wilhelm or
Emma. There is only "Pächt, Adolf, Arbeiter, Hedwigstraße 7".

O, just in this moment i have seen a surprise. I've looked under
"Hell" and I've found following:
"Hell, Emma, geb.Pächt, vw.Arbeiter, Spoorstraße 12"

But this means, that you have an error in your Mail! Emma is nee
Pächt and not Hell. She has had an husband named Hell, but he's
died before 1898 and he was worker ("vw.Arbeiter").

But who is "Adolf Pächt", can be a brother from Emma nee Pächt?
I don't know, you can solve the problem. . .

The address book from the year 1906 contains the next surprise:
"Hell , Emma, geb.Pech, vw.Zigarrenmacher, Frauenstraße 24"

Is it the same person? I don't know. You can note this and if you
can solve the problem. . . Here is her nee-name Pech and 1898
it was Pächt. 1906 was her died husband a worker and 1906 he
was a cigarmaker ("Zigarrenmacher"). If is the same person, she
has now 1906 a new address and she lived also 1906. . .

The address book from the year 1906 contains also "Pächt":
"Pächt, Adolf, Arbeiter, Steinweg 4"
"Pächt, Hermann, Stuhlflechter, Frauenstraße 58"

A "Stuhlflechter" is a chairweaver. Do you know about this person?

"Martha Gottschalk" knows the address book from 1906 also:
"Gottschalk, Martha, geb.König, Witwe, Garniererin, Wilhelmstraße 12"

In the year 1898 has lived also her husband, there can you find:
"Gottschalk, Wilhelm, Former, Wilhelmstraße 12"
The same address, it must means, that Wilhelm ist the husband of
Martha and he is died between 1898 and 1906.

Her grandson Kanonier Andreas Gottschalk was died in WWI near
Menen (Belgium) on 17.09.1917. You can found it at the www-side
of "Kriegsgräberfürsorge" (www.volksbund.de/graebersuche). The
grave at the cemetry in Menen is Block L, grave number 3113. There
is a foto at the www-side, you can call it.

Next is "Anna Alt". I'm afraid, but I haven't an address book from
Liegnitz at the 20's, but I can help you although. The address book
from Liegnitz 1939 contains following:
"Alt, Paul, Holzbildhauer, Jauerstraße 44" and also
"Alt, Pauline, geb.Geilke, vw.Arbeiter, Jauerstraße 30"

Can be Paul is the son of Anna!? You mast solve the problem. . .
Near has lived Pauline. Was she related with the others?

There are more persons named "Alt" in this address book, but not in
Jauerstraße. . .

The address book 1939 contains only one "Leitner", following here:
"Leitner, Leopold, Regierungs-Angestellter, Blücherstraße 2"
Can be, that Lena Leitner is his wife. . . Find it out!

I'm sure that you can find many more details. You must ride to
Liegnitz and see in old church books from german time, you can
find these in the "Staatsarchiv Breslau, Filiale Liegnitz" in the
Koischwitzer Straße 1 (in polish ul.pilsudskiego 1)in the eastern
part of Liegnitz. You can find the building. . .it's a brick building, it was
in german time a school ("Eichendorffschule").

The www-side of this is "http://www.ap.wroc.pl/strony/legnica/legnica.htm"\.
You can see here also the telefon number and so on.

Enough with the surprises for you today. I'm sure, you must "digest" this all.

Sunday greetings from Leipzig to fare away. . . (What is your hometown
today?)
Hans-Joachim Grittner

lLieber Hans-Joachim Grittner,

Hallo Hans-Joachim Grittner-- Does the addressbucher have Steinbrich, Hess,
Mende or Roessler?
