Dear list members,
I am interested in a man called Justus Wrk, who lived in Quakenbrck, or, at least, had an office there in the 1830's. My interest stems from the fact that Gerhard Friedrich Hunderdosse (1812-1884) worked in that office. A testimony by JW about GFH's work there is still in the possession of the American Hunerdosse family, descendants of GFH, who are my distant cousins (I myself am a descendant of a Dutch Hoenderdos family, also descendants of this Quakenbrck Hunderdosse family). Now I know a lot about this GFH (after his youth in Quakenbrck he left for London, worked there for a shipping and insurance agency and started a family, until he left for the USA in in 1855 where he bought a farm in Iowa). But the testimony is unclear about the sort of office JW operated in Quakenbrck (or, possibly, I have not been able to read it).
Is anybody able to tell me the occupation of Justus Wrk? That would at least give me some idea of the sort of work GFH did while a young man in Quakenbrck.
Grateful for any help
