I am trying to trace the German roots of my ancestor, Johannes Weidenhammer, born in Germany on 4 November 1726. Johannes emigrated to America, arriving in the port of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 5 September 1748 on the ship "Edinburgh", from the port of Rotterdam, James Russell, master.
We have collected extensive information on Johannes in America, along with 9 or 10 later Weidenhammer emigrations from Germany, but cannot trace Johannes' roots in Germany.
I have investigated a Weidenhammer family in Aglasterhausen , southwest of Heidelberg, in the 1700's but cannot locate my Johannes there. The Weidenhammer family in Aglasterhausen originated with Conrad Weidenhammer, who moved there in 1707 from Bayreuth. where he was born in 1670.
Does anyone have information on the Weidenhammer family in Bayreuth that may help me in tracing Johannes?
I will greatly appreciate any help.
