Important: Changes in the mailing list

Dear List Subscribers!

You might already have heard that the Verein für Computergenealogie, as
the operator of mailing lists at genealogy.net is in the process of
changing the mailing list system to a new platform

This change is now imminent and we inform you with this
about it with this mail.

It is planned to switch the mailing lists as of September 15, so that
from that date on, communication will only take place via the new
communication platform from genealogists for genealogists.

In order to inform in detail we have written some information pages in
Genwiki - unfortunately so far only in German.

The individual phases of the changeover are described in this (German)
blog post:

With this mailing list we are now in phase 2.

A general information and a list of all affected mailing lists can be
found here:

https://wiki-de.genealogy.net/Genealogische_Mailinglisten/Discourse

A (German) guide on what to do to make the changeover as close as
possible to the previous behavior of the mailing list can be found here:

https://wiki-de.genealogy.net/Discourse_FAQ

In order to make personal settings on the new platform, you must log in
to the new platform. Some list readers have found this difficult in the
past. For this reason, we have have created an additional illustrated
guide to the registration process. You can find it here:
https://wiki-de.genealogy.net/FAQ_Benutzerkonten

If you have made the described settings for your mailing list(s)
you can lean back and relax. Until the end of the transition period
you will receive all mails twice, once via Mailman and a second time
via the new Discourse platform.

You can then unsubscribe from the old mailing list or set it to "no-mail".

If you miss this by September 15, you will not receive any more mails
from this list. However, you will not miss anything, because all
messages can be found in the archive. If you want to receive incoming
messages again, the steps described in this email can also be performed
at a later point in time.

Best regards on behalf of the association board
