there's another aspect that you should consider. People that were in bondage to a landlord had to have a permission of their landlord before they could marry. The bondage system ended in the 1830th in the Kingdom of Hanover.
Another aspect is that men who were heirs of a farm needed a heir. So it was always got to know if a woman was able to get a child before you marry her. That is said to be the reason why so many couples had children born short after the marriage.
