Ignatius Niemoller, born 5 Nov 1848 in Visbeck, Osnabruck

Hello Jo,

do you know our page www.auswanderer-oldenburg.de? There we present informations about emigrants from Oldenburg with their familes. Could you please give me your informations about the wife of Ignatius and his children? The spelling of his name was "Niemöller" (Niemoeller) in Oldenburg.

Best regards,

Gunter

My great-grandfather, Ignatius Caspar Niemoller was born in Visbeck,
Grand Duchy of Oldenburg in 1848. I believe he came to the US in 1870.

His naturalization papers dated 8 Sep 1874 say he was then a resident of
Carroll County, Iowa, USA.

In 1883, Ignatius married Susan Frances Stone in Adams County Illinois.
They moved to Platte County, Nebraska and were members of a Catholic
church there. They had three children.

In 1903 Ignatius went to Saskatchewan, Canada and claimed some land
there. He returned to Platte County Nebraska by 1920. I have yet to find
his obituary or place of burial.

I would like to find related Niemollers, both in Germany and in the US.
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can find more? I do not speak or
read German.

Thanks,

Jo in Wisconsin USA

If they are Catholic, the Catholic church in Visbek is St. Vitus. The LDS
website has several church books from that church on microfilm and maybe
online. These books go back to 1650 or so! You just have to learn a few
words in German to get the idea of the listings and where to look for the
name Niemoeller. I found this resource immeasurable!
